#124 Essie, Sara Jane and Arty

Essie and SJ met in the choir at university thirteen years ago. They loved to sing together, and they still do, though these days it’s mostly in the car or the shower, which suits them fine.

Arty (conceived with the help of a known donor) joined the family in 2012, bringing a whole lot of sunshine and cheekiness along with him.

Essie and SJ would have gotten married a LONG time ago had they been given the chance. They’re often asked why they don’t just go overseas to do it, but it wouldn’t feel right for them if their marriage wasn’t recognised at home.

They believe that love makes a family, and that it’s well past time for Australia to get it together on all manner of LGBTIQ issues. Marriage equality is just the start.
