First and foremost, we are mad Western Bulldogs supporters.

As a couple, we have been on a challenging marriage equality journey for nearly 10 years. As Americans, we had a wedding in 2006, but it wasn’t “legal.”

We were overwhelmed with pride in 2008 when marriage became legal in the state of California, so on a trip home from Australia we got legally married. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time until voters supported Proposition 8, which then threatened the legality of our marriage.

On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court made marriage equality a reality for ALL citizens in ALL 50 states. We are now legally recognized in the United States, but the wait continues in our home in Australia.

In 2017 we will be able to apply for citizenship. It would be amazing if we could also have equality!
