#95 Caitlin and Yuki
Here’s my story:
Marriage in Australia is a legal union so, to me, equality before the law means that any couple be allowed to marry, provided they’re consenting adults. I may decide not to marry. Marriage is an institution that attempts to restrict love and sex, to define relationships in a certain way, and that might not suit me.
I still support the right to marry, and I look forward to attending ceremonies for loved ones.
It appals me that a married transgender person who legally alters the sex on their identity documents is forced into annulment. Marriage equality is long overdue; legalise it so we can focus on other issues.
