My mothers in law were able to have a legal marriage performed at the UK consulate last year. It was just sheer chance that they were both UK-born and able to do it. It isn’t recognised here… which is appalling.

Why should our daughter grow up feeling as though the relationship of her grandmothers is less legitimate than that of her parents or her other grandparents?
Love is love. I hope the situation changes before she is old enough to be aware of such inequity.
