#61 Mary and Tina
I met Mary and Tina through Emily and Alex, Bed #52.
Mary and Tina were in the midst of packing to go to NZ for Tina’s 60th (Ticking off bucket list item” Hot Air Ballooning”) when I turned up at their door.
It was a 36-degree Melbourne day and I had been photographing all day in regional Victoria. As you can imagine, by the time I arrived at their home in Castlemaine, I was not looking as fresh as a summer breeze. Thank you, Mary and Tina, for the best beer of my life.
Mary and Tina’s story:
‘It was in the early autumn of our lives that we came together and share now a warm, deep, rich and mature love.
We are each other’s joy and delight; every day we share together is another day in paradise. We are each other’s soul mate, friend companion, lover, and wife.
We are the ‘other’ that makes our lives complete and whole, in our sharing there is laughter and there are tears and woven together we make the fabric of our life that is us.
Eighteen countries have approved the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. We hope one day that Australia will have the courage to do the same and honour and respect the human rights of all people.’
