#63 Councillor Robert Simms

Robert was listed in the MCV as one of the LGBTI people to watch for 2015. I contacted him and asked if he’d like to join the Bed-In. Despite his hectic schedule (Opening night of the Adelaide Festival, Blinc ) he made the time to show his support. Thank you Robert.

Roberts’ story:

I support marriage equality not because I’m gay, but because I believe all people should have equal rights before the law. Gay or straight, marriage is a civil right, and it should be for a couple to decide whether they want to marry, not Tony Abbott or Bill Shorten.

Why should same-sex couples be denied the right to celebrate their love and commitment through marriage? We have to keep up the good fight because ultimately love can and will triumph over these unjust laws.
